Mount Marty College, a Catholic, Benedictine college of 800 students located in Yankton, SD, invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs.
As the College's chief academic officer, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) reports to the President, serves as a member of the college's executive team, and works with the academic affairs committee of the Board of Trustees.
The VPAA will be responsible for the strategic direction, planning and assessment of the academic affairs division the college, including the development and administration of academic programs and policies relating to instruction, curriculum and learning outcomes. In addition, the position will be charged with implementing major priorities in Mount Marty College's strategic plan which was adopted by the Board of Trustees in 2018. The VPAA will be an experienced academic leader of vision with considerable communication skills and a genuine appreciation for shared governance. The successful candidate will have a willingness to work effectively with faculty, administrators, trustees and others to enhance student success, promote faculty development, and achieve institutional goals.
Mount Marty College seeks a VPAA who supports the college's mission, core values and Catholic, Benedictine ideals and can use these assets to help chart a path toward the future. The successful candidate will also be transparent, experienced, collaborative, appropriately decisive, and exhibit good judgment. The ideal candidate will have an earned terminal degree and a record of teaching and scholarship necessary to inspire and lead the faculty. Prior experience supervising and evaluating both faculty and staff, as well managing multiple units and budgets, is important.
The main campus of Mount Marty College is located on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River in Yankton, SD, a thriving community of 15,000 people a little more than an hour's drive from Sioux Falls, SD, and 2.5 hours north of Omaha, NE. Yankton is widely known for recreation activities associated with Lewis and Clark Lake and the Missouri National Recreational River, which is managed by the National Park Service. Mount Marty College also operates an adult education center in Watertown, SD, and a graduate nurse anesthesia program in Sioux Falls.
