Position Purpose

The Vice President for Advancement reports to the President and is a senior officer in the College’s administration. The Vice President is responsible for creating and overseeing all fundraising plans and programs at the College included, but not limited to: capital giving, annual fund, alumni relations, parent and athletic giving; foundation and corporation giving; and planned giving. The VP plays a significant leadership role in comprehensive campaigns and is responsible for planning and executing, with the President (and with Board approval), all campaign details: analysis, needs, goals, timeline, communication, marketing, donor pyramids, etc.

Essential Duties Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
• Create and implement a yearly comprehensive plan for advancing and strengthening New England College fundraising.
• Achieve annual goals in both capital and annual giving;
• Lead, with the President, all capital campaigns; identify and cultivate all potential major donors in campaigns. Maintain a portfolio of lead donors expected to make major gifts for campaigns and special projects; 
• Ensure a positive and growing relationship with corporate donors; 
• Take the lead in major grant application projects, e.g., six- and seven-figure foundation grant applications, federal grant applications (Title III);
• Travel extensively throughout the country for major donor visits (occasionally with the president or Board Chair); 
• Working with the Director of Development (who reports to the VP) develop multi-year plans for all major events and fundraising projects; ensure these events and projects are in a logical order on the calendar;
• Serve as Liaison to the Board Development Committee;

Required Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge. 
• Higher education fundraising, especially capital campaigns and major gifts; 
• Leadership ability;
• Proven track record of achievement in face-to-face solicitations in major or planned giving programs; 
• Five or more years of successful fundraising experience, preferably in higher education. 
• Five or more years’ experience in management and supervision of professional and support staff. 
• Major gifts or capital

• Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred Qualifications


• Master’s degree preferred
