This position reports to the Chair, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences.
Twelve (12) month annually renewable appointment.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Specific Duties: 1.Teaches and promotes teaching excellence;
2.Supervises program personnel, and planning of class schedules and faculty workloads;
3.Strategizes for student recruitment, success, and retention to assure and appropriate completion rate;
4.Serves as the Liaison to Apollo for EMT Basic, First Responder and Fire Science;
5.Supervises implementation of program objectives and student learning outcomes;
6.Assists with budget planning and management;
7.Participates in accreditation processes and assessment activities;
8.Markets the program and certificates and serves as liaison to the EMS and healthcare communities and certifying agencies;
9.Assists with resource development and planning of program and certificate facilities through strategic planning, program review, and annual budget processes;
10.Participates in the evaluation of candidates for part-time employment as adjunct faculty members. Recommends their hiring to the Chair and Dean. Recruits and hires qualified adjunct faculty members to teach courses;
11.Reviews and submits catalog changes to the Chair;
12.Advises college library of need for additional holding and renewal of journals;
13.Determines adequacy of program facilities and equipment and recommends capital equipment purchases to Chair and Dean;
14.Participates in grant application activities;
15.Maintains attendance tracking, orders textbooks and supplies;
16.Assists Chair with student requests for experiential credit and evaluates transfer credit;
17.Administers tests to award student EMS credit;
18.Advises EMS students;
19.Determines, approves and submits course substitutions for graduating seniors to the Vice President for Academic Affairs;
20.Plans and conducts program advisory committee meetings and oversees the writing, archiving, and distribution of minutes;
21.Maintains personal professional development and fosters the development of program faculty;
22.Coordinates program lab use;
23.Participates in college, community and professional activities such as committee work;
24.Provides oversight and compliance with external accreditation and safety regulatory agencies;
25.Perform other similar duties as assigned.
Major Work Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in any profession. Requires minimum of three years of experience as a Paramedic with required certifications: Ohio Paramedic Certification and Ohio EMS Instructor. Certifications preferred: National Registry of EMT-Paramedic, AHA BLS instructor, ACLS and PALS Instructor, and PHTLS Instructor. Knowledge of accrediting bodies and assessment processes preferred. An appreciation for and understanding of a two-year college mission is a must.
Commensurate with academic preparation and experience.
