Summary of Job Duties
The Postdoctoral Researcher in Membrane Science will be responsible for experimental research activities to develop novel nanocomposite membranes for water filtration applications as well as experimental research activities focused on understanding water chemistry related to membrane filtration. This position will be responsible for materials characterization and data analysis for techniques including SEM, FTIR, XPS, and XRD.
The Postdoctoral Researcher in Membrane Science will also be responsible for proposal writing, reviewing documents, editing/checking documents, contributing to proposal development, project report, and paper writing/editing. This position will also be responsible for lab organization and management of students/space and equipment ordering/maintenance. The Postdoctoral Researcher in Membrane Science will also participate in collaborative research projects and conduct preliminary/key experiments needed for proposals. The initial appointment will be for one year with possible renewal.

Ph.D. in chemical engineering
Demonstrated proficiency in Office suite, Origin graphing software
Documented research experience in publications and/or patent applications in membrane synthesis, characterization, and testing
Expertise with graphene oxide synthesis, handling, and characterization
Expertise with polymeric membrane synthesis
Laboratory experience in a wet chemistry lab - nanoparticle/nanomaterial synthesis; nanoparticle handling; nanoparticle characterization; catalyst testing; electrochemical testing methods; spectroscopy
Does this job require any license(s)/certification(s)?
Three to four publications in peer-reviewed journals
Electrochemical cell design and configuration experience
Cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry experience
Electrochemical data analysis experience
Experience with water chemistry research
Nanomaterials synthesis expertise
Aqueous component analysis experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
