The Financial Aid Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the administration of the Student Financial Aid programs to include Modules for the University's on-line programs. This position assists the Director with the responsibilities of delivery, direction, coordination and evaluation of the financial aid services. This includes financial aid data loads; determining aid eligibility, processing student financial aid, counseling students and parents, and maintaining compliance with all federal and institutional policies. This position is also actively involved in conducting outreach activities to include financial aid workshops; being the liaison with the business office in reconciling program funds; assisting in the development of policies and procedures; preparing statistical and narrative reports and all other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of financial aid regulations and program administration to include Modules for the University's on-line programs; serious commitment to excellent customer service; highly motivated - possessing excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, leadership, and personnel management skills; demonstrated ability to interact successfully with a diverse constituency; attention to detail and the capability to multi-task.
Extensive knowledge of University organizations and standards; University policies and procedures; best practices in higher education; student services; records management; data integrity.
Desirable software skills, including Banner, EDExpress and other related financial aid software.
Master's Degree preferred and at least 3- 5 years of Federal Financial Aid experience.

Supervises financial aid unit on St. Thomas campus and assists in the administration of students' financial aid programs.
Plans and coordinates financial aid workshops and other community outreach efforts; explains financial aid programs to students and parents; supports other outreach/customer service and enrollment initiatives within the Access and Enrollment Services division.
Conducts the verification of financial aid applicants documents, financial and otherwise, to ascertain accuracy and completeness of financial aid application; makes corrections where necessary.
Performs professional judgment decisions for applicants with unusual circumstances - changes in household income, dislocated workers status, unusual medical expenses and dependency status overrides.
Evaluates financial aid applications and certifies eligibility; assists with awarding and disbursement of students' financial aid.
Conducts data imports and files transfers between federal software and Banner system to execute data load processes for financial aid processing; generate students' electronic verification, award and satisfactory academic progress letters.
Certifies direct loans and alternative loan requests from outside loan agencies; conducts entrance and exit loan counseling interviews for direct loan borrowers; provides counseling on debt management, loan repayment and default prevention.
Coordinates with Information Technology department to ensure that U.S. Department of Education' required federal software and new releases are loaded and are functional.
Manages the federal return of Title IV funds process; calculates and determines refunds for student withdrawals; makes the necessary adjustments to students' award to return funds to federal programs; notifies students of change in award.
Assists with the monthly reconciliation of program funds and the completion of the annual Federal Fiscal Operations and Application for Funds (FISAP) report; liaison with independent auditors in conducting annual audits.
