Job Description

Woodland Community College is located in the heart of Yolo County about 15 miles
northwest of Sacramento. With a rural service area including centers in Williams and
Clearlake, the college is surrounded with rich agricultural farmland and is one the largest
crop production areas in the state. The area is an excellent choice for quality of life with
close proximity to the Sierra Nevada for outdoor recreation, a burgeoning farm to fork
movement, and access to the metropolitan areas of Sacramento and the San Francisco
Bay Area.

Woodland Community College seeks a strong, well rounded business educator who has demonstrated experience or potential to be an excellent teacher at a community college, and who can provide leadership or contribute positively in areas such as: keeping course offerings up-to-date and relevant; developing the General Business, Business Computer Applications, and Business Management curriculum; staying abreast with and communicating the current trends in business industry; collaborating with area high schools; and maintaining relations with area businesses, business organizations, and workforce development initiatives such as our local CTE advisory boards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The successful candidate will be expected to organize and teach
classes in all areas of Business (including but not limited to: General Business, Business Law and Business
Computer Applications). The successful applicant will provide instruction in accordance
with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policies;
evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters, develop and assess
student learning outcomes, and perform other instructional related duties as assigned.
Evening, weekend, distance education, and off-campus instruction may be part of the
contract. The college offers courses in online, hybrid, and point to point interactive
modalities.

Essential Duties Summary

REQUIRED DUTIES: Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

REQUIRED DUTIES: Provide effective instruction, maintain curriculum, partner with the
department to develop curriculum, participate in professional development, and interact
with college governance and partnership activity.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must
possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Business at
California Community Colleges:

• Possess a Master’s degree in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education OR

• Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration or JD or LL.B degree OR

Bachelor’s in economics with a business emphasis AND Master’s in personnel management, public administration, or JD or LL.B degree OR

• The Equivalent

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: Preference may be given to applicants with a strong background in business; such as experience as small business owners, corporate leadership, or other relevant experience in business including training or certifications.

EXPERIENCE: Preference may be given to applicants with experience teaching business to community college students in an equity minded and inclusive manner.

EXPERIENCE: Preference may be given to applicants with experience convening industry advisory groups, working with K-12 districts, and other college initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE: Preference may be given to applicants with professional knowledge of
computer application software in accounting, word processing, database management,
spreadsheets and operating systems.

KNOWLEDGE: Preference may be given to applicants with expertise in other areas of the department, including accounting and/or business computer applications.

COLLABORATION: Preference may be given to applicants with excellent collaboration
skills working with department faculty, industry groups, advisory boards, and local/
regional employers.

Range/Step

Class 2, Step 2 to Class 7, Step 10

Salary Range

$59,141 - $91,118/YR.

Benefits Information

BENEFITS/SALARY: The District offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees and dependent, valued at over $24,000 annually with a $310.50 monthly out of pocket expense to employees or dependents for monthly premiums. The package includes health, dental, vision, two (2) life insurance policies and an Employee Assistance program.

Additional benefits include contributions to the State Teacher’s Retirement System (STRS), 457/403b options, 10 sick days and a 178 day contract.
