POSITION.
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of an assigned Principal Investigator,
this position assists in an ongoing research project investigating innate
immune cell signaling and inflammatory diseases within the Department of
Microbiology, Immunology, and Biochemistry. Duties include conducting
experiments using biochemical, microbiological, and cellular/molecular
biological techniques, consolidating records, analyzing research results,
operating/ maintaining laboratory equipment, and conducting routine lab
functions daily.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Conducts assigned experiments (Animal experiments, ELISA, Western Blot, Protein
Assay, Cell Culture, Small Animal Cell Isolation, Cloning and Other Molecular Biology Assays, FACS, etc.).
Supports and
participates in
student and postdoctoral fellow studies.
Organizes experiments
(designs and prepares experiments and writes procedures, protocols, and
lab notes).
Records and analyzes
data.
Performs routine
laboratory operations (prepares reagents, orders supply inventory,
maintains equipment, and cleans/organizes laboratory, etc.).
Oversees animal
colonies.
Participates in lab
meetings.
Performs other related
duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s
Degree in biological sciences (TRANSCRIPT
REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE:
OR a combination of college course work and work experience to equal
eight (8) years. Must be able to work with small animals and rodents,
chemicals, biologics, and radioactive materials.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES:

- Ability
to
be highly organized, analytical, and detailed-oriented.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to operate personal computer and various software packages.
- Ability to stand for long periods while performing experiments.
