Job Description Summary:
Work in a team envirnoment under the direction of the principal investigator. This person is responsible for employing a broad knowledge of procedures and principals to design and conduct research and to disseminate findings.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:

PhD in a Biological Sciences or Bioinformatics with two or more years of experience after PhD with demonstrated ability in biomedical research and proven ability to produce strong peer-reviewed publications.


Preferred Qualifications:

A strong knowledge of Molecular Biology and Cell Biology and strong expertise with in Genomics approaches including RNA-Protein interaction. Experience in working with mouse models.

Alternatively, a strong expertise in Bioinformatics including analyses of data related to RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, Global Methylome Analyses and single-cell genomics.


Job Duties Outlined:

  • Under the supervision of the principal investigator (PI), design and conduct research, analyze data, prepare manuscripts for publication, write grants and help other lab members in their research. Work in a team environment.

  • Under the direction of the PI, design, perform and analyze experiments in cell culture and mouse models. Apply techniques such as tissue culture of trophoblasts, embryonic stem cell lines, recombinant DNA technologies, nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, protein expression analysis, chromatin immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry. Generate and analyze genetically modified mice.

  • Develop molecular biological procedures. Grow and process mammalian cell lines, stem cells in culture for DNA, RNA, protein extraction, PCR, chromatin immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry. Perform research on regulation of gene expression in trophoblast cells and embryonic stem cells during placentation and embryonic development in rodent models.

  • Prepare oral and written reports on research progress. Assist with the preparation of manuscripts for publication of research results and present results and scientific meetings.

  • Isolate pre-implantation embryos from the rodent models which is associated with multiple NIH grant proposals. Breed mouse colonies, isolate pre-implantation embryos from uterine horns, perform immunochemistry for protein expression and analyses by confocal microscopy.

  • Assist and work with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and research staff in the lab. Assist in training other lab members. Perform word processing and data input.

  • Assist in writing research grants on the assigned project(s) in consultation with the principal investigator.

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
