Friends University invites applications for a full-time faculty member in the Division of Education. The ideal candidate should have experience in teaching at secondary level and must have a strong background in assessment or be willing to learn. This is a tenure-track, nine-month faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and reports to the Chair of the Division of Education. Duties include teaching 3-4 courses per semester, supervising student teachers and field experiences, advising and mentoring students, participating in departmental and institutional committee work, and service. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to and expertise for preparing preservice teachers for diverse urban, suburban, and rural settings and have advanced skills in teaching pedagogy and classroom management. Candidates should demonstrate evidence in their application of a passion for teaching and a desire to serve as mentors to preservice teachers both in and out of the classroom.

MEd or MAT degree with extensive 5-10 years teaching experience at the secondary school. Has a current state teaching license. At least three years of documented successful teaching either at the middle or high school level. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member. Excellent written and oral communication skills and a deep commitment to team and personal development. Has the passion to make a difference in the lives of students.
PhD or EdD, with a deep commitment to team and personal development. The university prefers to hire a candidate who holds a doctoral degree in education. Preference will be given to individuals who are academically or professionally qualified to teach both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
