Job Description

Yuba College is seeking an equity-minded, dynamic, collaborative, and innovative employee to serve as the Student Marketing and Engagement Coordinator.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned administrator, coordinate efforts to engage with, recruit, and promote the college to potential and current students with specific attention to engaging with historically minoritized populations. This position will be responsible for college-wide efforts including web content, advertising and branding, social media, event management, and community engagement designed to engage and recruit new students as well as support existing students across our diverse service area. This position will establish data-informed efforts and reach out to potential students through traditional and non-traditional means designed to communicate intentionally and appropriately with our community. This position will work independently, including preparing reports to measure efficiency of advertising campaigns and social media efforts.

Essential Duties Summary


Create, coordinate, and execute data-informed advertising campaigns through available media to attract and retain students. Set performance goals for advertising, establish and track outcomes to increase access to college programs, services, events, and activities. Campaigns should be designed to ensure we are reaching out to serve those we are not currently serving.

Design, write, and coordinate the publication of promotional and informational materials in print and digital form such as catalogs, schedules, brochures, news releases, fliers, web, and social media. Materials will be designed to communicate with our community populations including obtaining translations in key languages spoken in service county areas.

Manage college social media accounts including evaluating their outcomes toward student enrollment. Distribute access to the channels to appropriate college offices, ensure posts and content adhere to college brand standards.

Oversee, plan, promote, and execute college and public events, including but not limited to commencement and award ceremonies at the college. Events will be accessible to all attendees, adhere to college brand standards, and designed to enhance the reputation of the college.

In collaboration with college departments, programs, and services, ensure that website content is current, accessible, engaging, and maintains a consistent look and feel.

Draft, coordinate, and distribute messaging to potential and current students through communication tools such as a CRM (Customer Relationships Management) Software, texting tools, social media, and email. Messaging should be focused on reaching the intended audience and eliciting a desired action or response.

Manage vendor contracts to include overseeing, processing, monitoring, and assessing legal contracts; prepare reports and send requested information to all companies that allow Yuba Community College District to publicly perform copyrighted material. Ensure that all appropriate licensure agreements are adhered to and maintained.

Plan and prepare the Public Information,
Public Events, and Commencement budgets, including reviewing reports, maintaining records of expenditures, preparing budget transfers, and processing purchasing requirements to approved procedures over assigned budgets.

Maintain a calendar of events and activities in collaboration with college administration, campus life, fine and performing arts programs, student services, and various community agencies that highlights the college and represents the diverse community within the region.

Analyze, review, and report on the effectiveness of marketing and student engagement activities and campaigns for continual improvement.

Coordinate the photography and video needs and other relevant activities for special college events.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Write and edit a variety of materials that are creative, descriptive, technical, and factual.
Coordinate news releases and publications to inform the public, and participants of the programs, services and events.

Operate a desktop or laptop computer and related office equipment such as a copier, fax machine, and printer.

Assist in promoting programs and services and meeting student needs

Learn, apply, and explain laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to assignment.

Remain abreast of the emerging and changing social media technologies

Work independently with little direction and also cooperatively with other departments.

Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software.

Maintain records and prepare reports.

Train and provide work direction to others, i.e. students, temporary employees and/or volunteers.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, including those from a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff

Required Qualifications


Any combination equivalent to: A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising or a related field; OR Associates Degree with coursework in Visual/ Graphic Design using Adobe Creative Suite or similar software, photography/videography, or web design/ social media with content management software knowledge and two years of increasingly responsible experience in marketing, communications, student or community engagement, journalism, or social media; OR 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or graphic design.


Driver’s license and/or ability to provide own transportation to and from assigned sites.

Physical Demands

Range 38 CSEA Salary Schedule. Initial placement will not be higher than the salary schedule, the top step for this position is $4582.18/mo.

$4,428.05 - $4,881.92/mo.

Benefits Information

The District offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees and dependents for positions whose FTE is .60 or higher, valued at over $20,000 annually with a $310.50 monthly out of pocket expense to employees + dependents for their monthly medical premiums. The package includes health, dental, vision, one (1) life insurance policy and an Employee Assistance program. Additional benefits include contributions to the Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS) which is integrated with Social Security, 457/403b options, Vacation days – 7.33 hrs per month for the first year, 96 hours of vacation leave per years 1-5, 12 sick days and 20 holidays.
