General Description
The Title V (HSI) Experiential Learning Specialist plays a key role in the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) funded, five-year Title V grant to increase the completion, persistence, and transfer rates of students, particularly Hispanic students and FTIC students. The Title V (HSI) Experiential Learning Specialist is responsible for connecting with industry partners, managing experiential learning activities for students, and providing career development resources and services to students. This position is also responsible for recommending appropriate course selections based on student educational goals, identifying programs at the College that meet students’ goals and building short- and long-term academic plans for students.
The position of Experiential Learning Specialist requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and experience in career services or development, student life programming, student development or equivalent in an educational setting or experience in recruiting, human resources, client relations, project management or equivalent. This position requires strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills. This position requires relationship building, event planning and project management skills. This position requires computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with database information. This position requires the ability to deal extensively and effectively with a wide variety of individuals requiring excellent interpersonal skills, listening skills, and communication skills in order to assist students in achieving their academic goals. The person in this position must be able to provide continuous courteous customer service to students, parents, the community, staff, and administration. Occasional evening and weekend work hours will be included in the position. A criminal background check is also required.
