Job Description

Position Summary

The Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Division is recruiting for a Full time, 9 Month, tenured track faculty position.  This instructor will be qualified to teach Speech and preferably Theater Appreciation (DRAM 1310). This position will be available August 2025.  We are looking for an engaging team player comfortable with traditional, interactive television, and online/hybrid assignments. Teaching assignments may include a Theater Appreciation class, and/or all core speech classes.  Class size is usually limited to 25 students.  The successful candidates will compassionately commit to rigor, retention, and successful completion through campus partnerships at the departmental, divisional, and institutional levels.  Committee work and other duties may be assigned by the department chair or dean.  Teaching assignment may include evening classes.

Starting earned monthly salary for the nine-month position is $5,346.11. The earned annual salary is paid out over 12 months.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Team classroom teaching, supervising students in clinical practice settings and instructional labs
  2. Assisting in curriculum evaluation and revision
  3. Committee work, advising and counseling students
  4. Sharing ongoing efforts to recruit and retain students
  5. Attend meetings at other VC campuse
  6. Other duties as necessary
  7. This position will access student records at times and will follow all FERPA guidelines.


Qualifications

Required

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Speech or Communications. Will consider May 2024 graduates.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence. Excellent work ethic.

Preferred

  • 18 graduate hours in drama or theater in addition to the 18 hours in speech, drama, or communications
  • Experience forming community partnerships.
  • Experience in assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Experience teaching students from a wide spectrum of ages and from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, including high school students enrolled in dual-credit classes.
