The Assistant Director of ACT for Retention resides in the Advising department of Enrollment & Student Success at DCC and reports to the Director of Advising. This position serves as the College's primary facilitator of key retention initiatives and processes with a core focus of data management and implementation through the Starfish retention system.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as the Starfish lead on campus inclusive of updates and trainings needed through that vendor.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly use, review, and training of Starfish retention system across all campus constituencies developing a common language & process of the system for DCC.
  • Active role in all retention groups across campus including but not limited to Retention and Onboarding Curriculum Committee. Advisory group chair of Starfish subcommittee.
  • Trained to become an expert advisor for continuing students inclusive of those in need of academic recovery and/or SAP support.
  • Cross trained with financial services to recognize holds and to provide initial resolution support for students.
  • Work collaboratively with Registrar and Advising to coordinate building schedules for orientation session attendees, embedding predictive analytics to design best success model student schedules for their first term.
  • Support summer bridge programs of opportunity programs and other recognized populations.
  • In conjunction with the Associate Vice President for Enrollment & Student Success design and implement near-peer programming to assist with retention outcomes.
  • Assist with the design and effective execution of wraparound academic recovery plans for individual at-risk students. Includes the expansion of supplemental instruction for students who have not passed gateway English or Math courses on their first attempt.
  • Lead and/or participate in regularly scheduled advisor training to maintain best practices.
  • Design proactive outreach to students who are registered for off-map courses to make real time corrections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three years of experience in higher education in an advising or enrollment position.
  • Starfish, other retention software and/or CRM experience.
  • Works independently
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Team oriented approach.
  • Strong project management.



Preferred:

Bi-lingual Spanish

Additional Information:
The position of Assistant Director of ACT for Retention is a full-time permanent position.

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY

Classification: Administration / DUE

Salary: $71,343 - 82,712

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The performance of this work is primarily in-person and on-site.
  • Flexible hours may be necessary.
  • Some travel will be necessary.
