Title	Postdoctoral Researcher in Human-Computer Interaction

Position Description	We invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher in human-computer interaction, human-AI interaction, natural language processing, and/or visualization design to work with Prof. Elena Glassman at Harvard SEAS. Applicants will broadly be expected to help mentor research projects led by Masters and PhD students as well as develop and lead projects themselves. Projects within the lab may be related to (1) fairness and interpretability for machine learning in healthcare, e.g., challenges related to personalization and communicating uncertainty, (2) designing for “loophole” behavior in human-AI interaction, (3) building usable interactive systems powered by program synthesis, (4) interfaces for supporting humans in human-AI teams, including human-robot teams, (5) interfaces for hypothesis discovery & ML model selection by physician-researchers, or (6) code demography, e.g., extensions of OverCode/Foobaz and Examplore/ExampleNet. Most of these project topics will involve working closely with a second PI at Harvard or elsewhere, who is an expert in a field other than HCI. Applicants will also have the opportunity to develop their own research agenda and start new collaborations. The initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility for renewal of a second year depending on performance and availability of funds. Basic Qualifications	A PhD in CS or Information Science by the position start date; and a publication record of 3-5 papers in HCI venues, preferrably CHI, TOCHI, UIST, or CSCW.
Additional Qualifications	Applicants should have demonstrated research experience in qualitative research: e.g., designing and conducting formative studies or other need-finding techniques, and building and evaluating interactive systems, e.g., designing and evaluating a novel interface which may have have statically loaded data or an operational data-processing backend. Prior contributions in any one of the following fields preferred: Machine Learning Program Synthesis Natural Language Processing Visualization
