Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell.

The USG is now accepting applications for a Human Resources Generalist to provide support for HR operational activities to the employees of the University System Office (USO) ¿ Athens (ITS) and Sandersville (SSC) locations. This position requires comprehensive working knowledge of all functional areas of Human Resources. Performs intermediate level work and acts as a resource in the USO HR department to support functions associated with the human resources process.

 

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for duties representative of the following:

  • Provides excellent customer service to USO Information Technology Services (ITS) and Shared Services Center (SSC) management and employees.
  • Interprets and advises managers and employees on organizational policies, procedures and related laws and statutes.
  • Ensures effective, accurate and timely support and communication related to benefits, compensation, employee relations, employment, and training and development.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to develop recruitment plans for USO Athens and Sandersville vacancies.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to maintain and update the USO¿s catalog of accurate job descriptions for the USO Athens and Sandersville locations.
  • Trains managers on the use of the automated applicant tracking system.
  • Conducts intermediate-level classification and compensation reviews.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director for Human Resources and department leaders to recommend and develop training for managers and employees on human resources subject matters.
  • Conducts new hire orientation.
  • Completes the exit process for separating employees.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and conducts research to ensure the accuracy of employee transactions.
  • Provides workplace investigation support by reviewing documentation, drafting witness interview questions, and conducting fact-finding interviews.
  • Exercises a high level of judgement and independent decision making and awareness of protocol and procedures within the USO.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

Undergraduate degree and 5 years of related experience in Human Resources OR High School diploma and 9 years HR experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

Two years of professional level human resources experience interpreting and advising on policies

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, HR policies, benefits and compensation.
  • Intermediate ability to manipulate data using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Intermediate skill in utilizing virtual meeting platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including making presentations
  • Time management skills to efficiently prioritize the completion of assignments
  • Ability to interact confidently with representatives from all organizational levels
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to handle difficult, confidential and/or sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact, discretion, and professionalism
  • Ability to communicate clearly and to effectively convey information to others
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment as needed
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement
